Part 1:  SLIDE RATING & ABBREVIATIONS

Slide Rating System
A difference of only one rating point is probably not significant, except when comparing two slides of the same species
1.  A+ Superior slide with excellent composition, sharp focus, proper exposure, etc.; shows key field marks well.
2. A Excellent slidebut perhaps not quite as good as another slide of the same species rated A+.
3. A - Slightly lower in qualitybut still quite good. (23%)
4.  B+ .
5. Flawed in some key area such as focus, exposure, presence of disturbing shadows, etc. but still has merit for teaching purposes; often shows interesting behavior. This rating also used for silhouettes, which may be excellent artistically, but which do not show field marks other than shapes.
6. B - .
7. C Seriously flawed, but still useful; may show interesting behavior.
8. D+ .
9.  D - Almost useless.

THE ABOVE TWO TERMS ARE ALSO USED FOR BIRDS WHOSE APPEARANCE CHANGES SIGNIFICANTLY WITH SEASON BY FEATHER WEAR, RATHER THAN BY MOLT.

You may wish to use them in describing your needs on the order form.  (For example, "p sv-hfq" means the bird is perched and is viewed from the side, except that the head is turned partially toward the camera.)
