April 27 - Volunteer Service Agreement forms

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I missed you last night, I was really looking forward to seeing everyone, but the flu bug got me! Here's a note from Lana and the new Data Sheet for 2017. If you were not at the meeting last night, please sign and return the Volunteer Service Agreement to Lana by mail. You must return this before your parking pass will be mailed to you.

Thank you very much for your continued support. Have a good time Tern Watching!

FROM LANA:

Hi Volunteers!
Thanks to those that made it out last night to the official kick-off meeting! It was nice saying hello to the returnees and meeting the new volunteers while talking Least Terns.

If you did not sign a new (updated) Volunteer Service Agreement, please do so and send it to me when you can (we need a new one every year). Parking passes will be mailed out next week to those who have turned in their updated service agreements.

If you are filling out that super fun pile of paperwork for the first time and have questions, please feel free to reach out to Blythe at and she will be happy to answer any of your questions. When you are ready to submit, please submit directly to Blythe and CC me and Cheryl, so we can stay in the loop.

We are having the official FIELD TRAINING portion for the season this Saturday 4/29/17 from 8:30-10:30. If you are a new volunteer, you are required to do the field training in order to officially complete the volunteer process. Please RSVP to Cheryl  if you will be joining us. If you cannot make it this Saturday, we will have one other training session based on the need, date TBD.

NEW DATA SHEET: this year we updated the data sheet thanks to help from Cheryl and Nancy. We’ve clarified some sections as to the specific information we are looking for, made the dog section a little bigger to record where “good” dogs and “bad” dogs are, and added a map to the back/pg 2 so you can mark exactly where there is a hole in the fence, where a peregrine took an adult, etc. A picture is worth a thousand words! If you do not have anything recorded on the map, you do not have to submit/print that part out, but please use if you find it helpful. At the end of the season, I’ll be looking for feedback, so think about ways to improve the sheet this summer.

Thanks all!  Looking forward to seeing you on the beach —
