Comments: As you can see, the season appears to be quickly coming to a close. All the surviving chicks are now fledglings, and very few are still hanging out inside the Preserve. They were primarily seen loafing on the beach this morning. We did not see any at the Santa Ana river mouth — just one adult fishing there. There are still several nests with eggs in the Preserve & Front Yard that are now considered abandoned. We will probably begin clean-up next week.
