Tree Swallow Nest Box Study at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary (SJWS)/ Sea & Sage Audubon Society. Assist naturalist.
Teams will visit 50-100 nest boxes weekly, record nesting activitiy - nest building, # of eggs, dates of incubation, # of hatchlings, # of fledglings, etc.
Near Audubon House at the SJWS in Irvine on Riparian View, off Michelson, between Campus & Michelson. Volunteers  will be needed each week during nesting season - mid March through July. For more info, contact Naturalist Christine Tischer at 714-508-8338 or

Starr Ranch Audubon Sanctuary: Artichoke Thistle Removal Project. Each volunteer day will include briefing on project, moderate hike to work site, about 3 hours spent lopping the tops of the thistles with a hoe. Equipment will be provided. Bolsa Chica Conservancy Monthly Service Day Various activities, may include weeding or planting native plants. Meet at the walk bridge by the main parking lot of Bolsa Chica, off PCH, in Huntington Beach. Last  Saturday of each month, 9:00 am to 12 noon. Orange County Reg. Parks have an ongoing need for volunteer help and often schedule specific events. Various activities may include planting native plants, weeding, making trails, etc. Any Orange County Reg. Park, such as Wm. R. Mason Reg. Park or Irvine Reg. Park (check listings for others) As scheduled. For more info, contact Joanne Simkins, OCHBP Volunteer Coordinator, at 714-771-6731, or check with the ranger at the park of your choice. Contact them for more details and see if they have a calendar of volunteer events.
Environmental Nature Center (ENC) Scheduled Work Days;  Senior Projects & Scout Projects welcome.  Variety of activities, call ENC for more information. ENC is located at 1601 - 16th Street in Newport Beach. By appointment or as scheduled. For more info, contact Celeste Dennerline at 949-645-8489. Check with ENC to find out when work days are scheduled and what kind of projects are available.
