| Orange County Spring Count |
| ~ Organization of Count ~ |
| |
Two people were instrumental in organizing this event; without them, the Orange County Spring Count would never have materialized into the successful event it became. They set it up to correspond with International Migratory Bird Day which takes place on the 2nd Saturday in May, but changed the name to reflect the fact that the count would only be done here in Orange County and would encompass all birds seen and/or heard, not just those that were migratory. Al Baumann did the promotional part – naming the event, setting the date, writing the articles for our newsletter & webpage which explained how the count would be run, and promoting it at our chapter meetings. Steve Alter listed the areas to be counted, organized the birders to cover the birding areas, set up the count sheets which the birders filled out and sent in to him by email, collected the data, and compiled the count. He also entered the count data into eBird. |

Sponsors Sheet
This pdf document is to help you keep track of your sponsors. Turn it in to the treasurer along with the money you collect from your sponsors. The mailing address is on the Sponsor Sheet. |
| Locations List: This is a list of areas to be covered. |
| Tally Sheet - alphabetical (This pdf document, in alphabetical order, is to be used ONLY for tally purposes during the count.) |
| Tally Sheet - taxonomic (This pdf document, in AOU order, is to be used ONLY for tally purposes during the count.) |
| Tally Sheet to send to Steve: Steve wants you to enter your count on the Tally Form (in alphabetical order) as a Word document, and then email it to him. His email address is on the document. Due to technical difficulties, I am not able to link a word document to this webpage. However, I can and will send you the form by email. Since I check my email multiple times during the day and evening, I will be able to respond to your email request very quickly. - Nancy Kenyon, webmaster

Steve entered the count data on to a large Excel spreadsheet which shows all of the bird species and areas covered. Because the spreadsheet is so large — with 69 locations (columns) and 208 bird species — I have divided it into 6 groups; this will enable you to look up the locations and species more easily. I have also posted a copy of the Excel spreadsheet as a whole.
All the count data is in pdf format.
