BOLSA CHICA Ecological Reserve Bird Walk
Join Vic Leipzig and Doug Lithgow for a great morning of birding at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve! We’ll explore this important coastal habitat in search of resident birds, wintering species, summer breeding species, and migrants. With a variety of habitats and seasonal birds to discover, there’s always something interesting to see at Bolsa Chica.
When: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
Our pace will be suitable for birders of all experience levels, with opportunities to stop, observe, and enjoy the birds and habitat along the way. At each site we visit, we will walk no more than one mile. The walking is almost entirely on level ground, with most of our route along gravel walking trails.
Meeting Location:We will meet at Harriet Wieder Park before driving to other areas of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve.
Directions: From Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), turn inland onto Seapoint Street. Follow Seapoint approximately 1 mile to Garfield Avenue, then make a U-turn. The driveway entrance to the parking lot, next to the playground, will be on the right in approximately 0.25 mile.
No matter your birding experience, we’d love to have you join us!
