Dana Point Harbor & Surroundings (P)

Limited to 10 participants

Explore the transition between land and sea on an easy-paced bird walk around Dana Point. We’ll visit the area around the Ocean Institute, the south end of the island, and Puerto Road, continuing to the mouth of San Juan Creek. Along the way, we’ll look for common harbor birds and may encounter special species such as Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, American Oystercatcher, Peregrine Falcon, and California Gnatcatcher.

When: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Meeting Location: Meet in the parking lot next to the old Pilgrim berth at the end of Dana Point Harbor Drive, on the left just before the Ocean Institute parking area. We’ll drive to additional locations—the island and the Puerto Road parking lot—and walk from there to the mouth of San Juan Creek.

Puerto Road parking: $1 per hour. You may also join a carpool from the meeting area to avoid parking there.

No matter your birding experience, we’d love to have you join us!
