Accessible Birding and Lunch
San Joaquin Marsh, Friday, April 19th at 9:00 am
Sea and Sage is sponsoring an accessible birding event at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday, April 19th at 9 am. This is a slow walk on flat, hard-packed paths, but the paths are not shaded. The San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary is a 300-acre freshwater wetland comprised of multiple ponds connected by sand berms, some ponds having islands for nesting birds. Over 200 bird species visit the Marsh annually and are most plentiful in April. Join us for some excellent birding, a discussion of the history of the Wildlife Sanctuary, and a bring-your-own lunch. There are shaded picnic tables near the Audubon House, a nature center with a library, gift shop, and taxidermy specimens. The Audubon House has restrooms with handicapped stalls. This will be our last accessible event before the summer break. There is no cost or parking fee for this event, but reservations are required. E-mail Sharon Rockwell at srockwell@writeme.com to register. Sharon will return your email with driving directions and instructions for where we will meet.
