“Take the plunge! Come experience a pelagic trip!”

Presented by Tom Benson

Tom Benson

Despite its small size, Orange County hosts a wide variety of habitats, from forests and woodlands in the upper reaches of the Santa Ana Mountains to the nutrient-rich waters of the Pacific Ocean. Sea & Sage Audubon organizes four pelagic trips each year to explore Orange County’s pelagic waters to discover and observe the unique suite of species that call this ocean habitat their home. Tom Benson will discuss the history of Sea & Sage’s pelagic trips, how they work, where we go, and of course, the wonderful birds we see on these trips. After the presentation, take the plunge (figuratively!) and sign up for one of our upcoming pelagic trips in May or July.

Tom Benson has served as the Secretary of the California Bird Records Committee since 2015. Despite moving to the Inland Empire where he is now a member of San Bernardino Valley Audubon, he is still addicted to pelagic birding and co-leads pelagic trips for Sea & Sage.

Meeting begins 5:15 pm via Zoom or in person at the Learning Center
