“The Wonderful World of Bats”
presented by Erin Cord
Erin Cord, a community engagement coordinator for Bat Conservation International, will be presenting on the importance of conserving bats and their ecosystems. Bats have been on Earth for 50 million years and include more than 1400 species! Bats provide vital ecosystem services in the form of insect pest consumption, plant pollination, and seed dispersal. Learn more about bats and the significant threats to bats including habitat destruction, climate change, and invasive species.
Erin’s educational background includes a double major in Wildlife Conservation and Entomology from the University of Delaware. Erin received her Master’s of Science in Wildlife Ecology from Cesar Kieber Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University- Kingsville. Erin has over 10 years of experience working as a wildlife biologist and running environmentally focused volunteer, outreach, and education programs. She joined the Bat Conservation International staff in 2019. Erin is happiest working at the intersection of science communication and citizen empowerment.
