Zoom Doors will open at 6:30 pm
Join us for the 4th Tuesday Conservation Lecture Series, presented by the Conservation Committee! These lectures bring together scientists, naturalists, conservationists, and special guests to share their knowledge, research, and passion for birds, wildlife, habitats, and important environmental issues.
The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is the longest-running community science project in the western hemisphere and is one of the most valuable long-term datasets available for avian biology and conservation. Five years ago, the Puente-Chino Hills CBC circle was established. Covering northern Orange County and bits of adjacent Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties, including birding hotspots like Carbon Canyon Regional Park, the upper Santa Ana River, and Chino Hills State Park, the Puente-Chino Hills CBC circle filled a large gap in CBC coverage in the region. After five years of growth in coverage, data collection, and regional knowledge, it is time for a report back.
Join count compiler Samuel Bressler as he shares some CBC results, including trends in local species abundance, the most surprising species encountered, the triumphs and challenges of establishing a new circle, and why you should take part in a CBC,
whether that be the Puente-Chino Hills CBC, the three other Orange County CBC run by Sea and Sage, or any of the other CBCs taking place across the region.
Advance Registration is required for this event. We look forward to seeing you!
