California Least Tern Natural Preserve Tour (P) (R)
Explore a Special Coastal Birding Site at Huntington State Beach
Join a California State Parks Environmental Scientist for a special birding walk at the California Least Tern Natural Preserve at Huntington State Beach.
We’ll walk the perimeter of this 12+ acre preserve, learning about the natural history of the California Least Tern and Western Snowy Plover, as well as the history of the Natural Preserve itself. With luck, we’ll observe nesting Least Terns and their chicks, along with other shorebirds that may be using the area. Moderate walking difficulty. Participants should be comfortable walking on soft sand and spending time observing birds in a coastal environment.
Day-use fees are not waived for this trip. Participants are responsible for the applicable Huntington State Beach entrance fee.
Come learn about these special coastal birds and the important habitat that protects them!
We hope you’ll join us for this unique birding experience at the California Least Tern Natural Preserve.
