Terrain: Moderate, mostly flat to rolling hills with minor elevation changes (up to 100 feet), featuring some uneven dirt paths and single-track sections.

- Barbara’s Lake: A major focal point of the trip, this is one of the very few natural freshwater lakes in Orange County. It serves as a vital magnet for waterfowl, wading birds, and migrating avian species.
- Diverse Habitats: The preserve protects one of the most biologically diverse plant communities in the United States, ranging from coastal sage scrub and chaparral to sycamore-lined canyon bottoms, attracting a wide variety of land birds and raptors.
